A clip from the Unredacted podcast retells a fatal tiger shark attack at Tiger Beach in the Bahamas that barely made the news. The way the guest tells it, an experienced European diver with a pro camera was on a baited shark dive when the current shifted, the group had to swim about 150 feet back to the boat with several tiger sharks following, and one of them grabbed her by the arm and would not let go. She made it to the surface screaming, the reef sharks joined in, and the crew launched a small boat but never reached her. Bahamian news reports from November 2023 match the bones of it: a 47 year old German woman went missing on a dive from the liveaboard Bahamas Master at Tiger Beach off West End, Grand Bahama, after a shark attack. She briefly surfaced and disappeared, and only her dive gear was recovered.

First off, fuck Pig Beach in the Bahamas. I love the Bahamas. I love the blue water. Never once have I wanted to go to Pig Beach. I’ve heard that they’re rabid, basically rabies infested pigs that will run up to you and bite you and do all types of crazy shit. The only people that go to Pig Beach are the lame chick influencers who want to take a fucking picture with the pigs. They’re not even cute pigs. Yeah, they swim in the water, whatever. Fuck Pig Beach.

Now to the juicy part. This shark attack story might be the worst shark attack story since Quint got eaten in Jaws. I mean, the girl gets ragdolled by a tiger shark, and then the reef sharks start swirling around her and consume her entire body. That is nightmare fuel.

And the thing is it’s real. November 2023, a 47 year old German woman on a liveaboard called the Bahamas Master at Tiger Beach, which is a spot where the entire business model is chumming the water so tourists can float around with tiger sharks. The current shifted, the group had a long swim back to the boat with the sharks following them, she got grabbed, she surfaced, and then she was gone. They found her gear and that was it. It got about one day of coverage in the Bahamian papers and then nothing, cause nobody selling shark dives wants that story going around.
