The beach, surfboards, and hot blondes in bikinis are what most people think of when they hear The Beach Boys. But then their sound changed, from singing about the innocence of young love to the contemplation of suicide and discussions of death.
Brian Wilson was the leader of The Beach Boys. He wrote and composed most of their hit songs and led them through the acid-taking, mind-bending, Jimi Hendrix era, essentially escalating this innocent boy band into being the most respected bands of the 1960’s, and even today, recognized as one of the greatest bands of all time.
Paul McCartney once said that the song ‘God Only Knows’ “greatest song ever written”, and he is goddam right!
